Game Warriors started as a tournament between friends and family to pass the time in 2006. In 2007 with the passing of my father, I began to reflect on my life and where it was heading. As a result of that time of reflection, the thought of a Game Warriors FEC (Family Entertainment Center) came about. One of the features as I was creating my business plan was taking the small tournaments that were being done and turning them into large public events to raise money for various charities. My goal was to build the FEC and fund the tournaments through it, but starting a company like that takes a large amount of capital to do.
Even though the FEC may be a few years down the road, I felt compelled to go forward with the tournaments. So in 2011, we held our first tournament fundraiser for a local youth group. Then within just two months later another tournament for a local organization that was raising awareness and funds for anti-bullying. As a result Game Warriors: Gaming for a Cause was formed.
Over the past few years we have looked into how to improve our format and how to make this a better fundraiser for a wide variety of causes. At Game Warriors: Gaming for a Cause it is our goal to put the fun back into fundraising. We finally achieved our non-profit status March of 2016.
A message from Charles Bell - Founder/President
As someone who has survived multiple forms of abuse and battled depression and suicidal thoughts for the majority their life, I have seen some of the horrible things people are capable of doing to one another. Edmund Burke stated, "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." For far too long, I did nothing and let the horrors of my past control my future.
As a husband and father, I want to leave this world a little better place for my family. As a Christian, I have faith that there is a chance for change and redemption. Our actions of what we do for one of another out of love, compassion, and selflessness is a reason for hope.
When I started this group, I never thought that it would turn into what it has become. Over the past few years, I have seen such wonderful things from so many wonderful people. It has given me hope. It is truly amazing how selfless some people can be and I am honored to have met these wonderful people.
